Mastery

Mastery of any good thing can carry over to other things you do. It is worth the time to master the foundations of what you need to know. Mastery consists of knowing and doing. You can do it "in your head" for some things, some times. Sooner or later it has to translate into doing it in the world.

Bible verse pertinent to the subject of mastery: Isaiah 41:20 see,... know,... consider,... and understand together that the hand of the LORD God hath done this

A master of chess doesn't make 50 good moves, then get all excited about how good he's done, and in haste of excitment just blow it all with one bad move.

You don't work to make 50 good links in a chain and then hook it all up with a weak lock.

You learn to do it all and do it right and do it all right through the end, from start to finish, and make it good.

Whatever the subject, whatever the skill; if it's important to you, master it. That does something good to your own heart, mind, and soul which gives a way of understanding you can apply to anything else you do.

Gaining mastery is connected with The First Commandment "Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one. And thou shalt worship the Lord thy God with all your heart, and with all your mind, and with all your strength." Mark 12:30 and it is connected with another teaching, Whatsoever you do, do it as unto God and not as unto men. See 1st Corinthians 10:31 and Colos 3:17

As an example of learning something:
See it with your eye.
Think it with your mind.
Say it with your mouth.
Write it with your hand.
Hear it with your ear.
This is an example of learning with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
And do all that unto the glory of God.
