Song of Solomon 2:7 "I adjure you, O you daughters of Jerusalem,...that you stir not up nor awake love, till He please."
Song of Solomon 3:5 repeated again, awake not love before its time Song of Solomon 8:4 repeated the third time... awake not love before its time
This admonition, "...stir not up, nor awake love, until He please..."
is repeated three times. Surely it is worthy of being obeyed. Your best chance
of happiness is by obeying the instruction of your heavenly Creator.
He created you. He has His plan for your happiness and fulfillment. Your best
chance to see the wonderful happiness is by staying in His plan according to
His guidance and clearly written instructions.
To yield to God in this instruction requires a faith in Him to work in you both to will and to do His good pleasure. Those yielded to Him will not be found in situations where arousal is a possibility. Give no heed to the worldly society which says its ok to neck and pet on dates. Such things stir up the emotions and the flesh giving confusion of mind and purpose. Confusion and lust combine to deceive and debase.
Practical Details of How Not To Stir Up Love Before Its Time
Submit yourself to God, and give no place to the enemy. Giving no place to the enemy means such things as: (Give the enemy no opportunity to trick you.]
Travel not with those who would lead you to prostitutes and whores. Let not your eyes rest on a woman clad in two strings for a bathing suit. Spend no time with those who scorn the word of God. See Psalm 1:1 which follows for scripture on this.
Psalm 1:1 "Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands with sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in His law does he mediate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he does shall prosper."
For the girls:
Avoid dates with guys who like to drink. They use the booze to loosen their
conscience. Don't get in a car with a drunk, or with a guy who plans to get
drunk.
If the guy uses the wrong words, leave him, go away from him. He's just trying
to set you up. Use of words can be a trick to get you first to accept the words
and the language, then later after accepting the words and the thoughts he can
work on the fulfilling of those words. Flee from such people.
This tactic is commonly seen where an older boy is setting up a younger girl.
He can try several approaches such as, "I thought you were grown up enough so
those words wouldn't offend you..." or "Oh come on, you're a big girl now
aren't you. You're not still twelve years old. You can handle adult talk."
Flee from words or actions that set the tone towards a situation you wouldn't
want Jesus to see. Another thing the guy might do is say, "Oh, I'm sorry I
just couldn't help myself. I know I shouldn't have done it..., but I just love
you so much." Such words are a smoke screen to deceive and lead into error.
