God's Plan for Your Life

The Yoke of Christ

DO YOU KNOW WHY?
That 90% of men at age 65 have less than they did when they were 20 years old?
That lack of enough money is such a common problem?
That very few people reach their dreams and goals?
That so many people consider themselves a failure?

The Israelites who followed Joshua and Caleb into Canaan were successful?
They were successful because they invested the required time learning what they needed to know.
They were successful because they followed their leader.
They submitted themselves to the authority that was ruling their lives.
They stayed in their proper place until they were promoted out by the authority placed over them.

The authority in your life is not there to hurt you. The authority is there by the hand of God to mold you, to prepare you for what God has in store for you. As you submit to the authority in your life you are submitting unto God. You are allowing yourself to be prepared for what will come. If you face the future unprepared, failure is at the doorstep; and failure desires to rule over your life.
And if you gladly accept the preparation time, then success will overtake you like an eagle catches a rabit. and you will be lifted up on wings from God.

Jesus said if we abide in Him, and His words abide in us, we shall ask what we will, and it will be done for us. (See John 15)
There are two keys in that statement from our Lord.
The first is to abide in Him.
The second is to treasure up His word into our heart so it can live in us.

Concerning the process of abiding in Him, we do well to consider another statement He made. He told us to come unto Him, and take His yoke upon us.

Big Difference Between a Yoke and a Harness!
The yoke was a way of joining together two working oxen so they could work in the field together. A harness is put on one ox to guide that one.
A yoke is put on a pair or more to keep them together as they plow.
Many people mistakenly understand the yoke of Christ like it was a harness.
It it were a harness, then everything would be up to them, they would be being driven and pushed to do the work themselves. But it is not a harness.

The yoke of Christ is not a harness, but a way of connecting you with a big brother who wants to show you how to get the job done.
Some think in terms of a harness, like everythings all up to them. But no, dear believer, the yoke of Christ is what you willingly take to work by His side, letting your older brother guide the way.

This was often the case on farms, where an older well trained ox would be used to train a new ox.

Jesus is your big brother. Let Him train you!
His yoke is comfortable, and He doesn't ask of you more than you can carry.
He has been around. He understands. Let Him help you. Take His yoke.

The field is our life. And the yoke joins us together with Christ. Working side by side together with Him, yoked together with Christ, we will accomplish much.

The yoke keeps us from going off on our own, keeps us in step with Him, and side by side together with Him. He is pulling with us, training, leading, and guiding. .
