MAKING OUR SCHOOLS ACCOUNTABLE:
Back in the 1980s my husband and I looked at our public schools. We were in Montgomery County, Maryland
one of the best served school systems, we were told.
So why so much violence, drugs, and godless students?
We saw that it was the lack of any moral, christian conscience that contributed to these godless children.
We elected to send our child to an Christian school.
Then when middle-high school came up we drove 45 minutes each way for 6 years.
All in order to avoid the godless education being shoved down kids throats.
During that time I was allowed to write Christian musicals and to produce them for the children and parents, and it was encouraged.
I served as Pres. of the Parent-Teacher Christian Fellowship for 4 years and established a textbook oversight committee.
God was invited in, and it was beautiful to see. I was free of worry for those years.
I recently visited our schools as the 2008 election came up. I asked to see their History texts and was appalled.
Why has no parent spoken up about this? Where are the citizen groups who oversee this socialistic education?
Where are the school boards and who was on them?
More importantly where were the parents?
The answers are sellf-explanatory...nobody had time to make our schools right.
Our students weren't worth the time. God was not worth the time.
Why could not one parent help one hour a week with in-classroom assistance?
Our children reflect our society and today's elections prove that uneducated voters can sway this country.
My friend Larry Rice at ResistNet.com has done extensive work on this subject.
His research and care show a respect for our children and for a return to decent schools.
Please see the website for his and my take on how you can help your school district.

Below are some ways you can actively get involved in your local schools. Even if your child has graduated the children of our communities still need our help and so does God. The parents of the 80s are our grandparents of today and there is room in our schools for you...now. Next year, who knows. Please make use of the following ideas and links to help our children now!
The following is used by the graceful permission of our friend Larry Rice, a member of ResistNet.com. Larry formulated these ideas many years ago on his website now updated as http://www.christianparents.com/index.html.
It is interesting that they are timely for today as well. Children will always need guidance, and our schools reflect they also need God.
The Actions Page is below:
What is faith without works?
Put your trust in God and do what is before you to do.
Trust Him to make your work fruitful and multiply.
Look towards God for the miracle to make something happen if you put your hand to the task.
Updated actions include these goals listed below. All help distributing these ideas is appreciated.
Place an ad in your local paper with the address of this site on it. Most small towns have a free newspaper in which advertising is free also. A student may see it and find help, or a family, or several families. You know it just takes a tiny pebble put in motion rolling down a mountain to start an avalanche. The gospel was spread by people telling people. Publish the word. Help others know.
As cities form their websites ask them to include the christianparents site. Also ask to include it in Chamber of Commerce literature.
Print and distribute history of America's godly heritage to school teachers and students. Ask teachers if you can prepare a Christian information sheet of the history of the founding of America upon Christian principles.

part 3
Print and distribute Creation Science information to the school teachers and students.
Print and distribute Bible studies on family, training up children, and holding fast to God's word.
Help grow a network of parents in many cities cooperating toward the godly training of children.
Help the political voice of Christian parents by asking if you can chair a textbook approval committree of parents; leading a parental support network based on prayer for our students. We may be told no at first, but keep asking.
Offer reading help for children, parents, and teachers and anyone else interested in reading faster with more comprehension.
Collect local information from many different families, teachers, and students, and anyone else who offers us help in gathering the facts we need about local events in school and politics.
Be both a gathering place and a source for others of vital information in our lives today, by keeping an up-to-date website as you gather local information.
We are using what we have to communicate with one another. This phone wire connected to the computer and then to the internet is a great tool. Let us use it to the glory of God. The rest of the world sure is not letting it lay around unused.
Connect the many organizations working towards these same goals.
Accomplish a horizontal local network in your city that is in addition to those individual people who support national groups.
Each family in each local city needs to connect up with other families in their city,
not just be connected to the national organizations, but also to the local community.
If we will not express our voice locally to be known, then we can not as effectively impact on a national scale.
We can not use the national to hide ourselves from the local people. We must reveal ourself to our neighbor.
Then from a multitude of voices in agreement, acknowledging one another, will power flow to the national level.
Locally is where we can best communicate and accomplish the work.
Local voices repeated across multiple localites will cause a flood that rises to the national level.

Part 4
The work will not get done on a national level unless it is first done by individuals connected together in unity at each locality.
May the members of the body of Christ come together.
Remember Ezekiel's vision of the valley of dry bones.
We are not dry when we are connected together.
We live in strength when we acknowledge the unity for which Jesus prayed.
He said, "Father, I pray that they may be one even as we are one."
I believe God heard the prayer of Jesus. Therefore we are one. Keep our children in your family prayer.
Believe in agreement with Jesus and let His will be done in manifesting that unity of the body of Christ.
