FATHERS
God chose Abraham knowing he would be faithful to train up his children in the knowledge of God. See Genesis 18:19

After dinner is a great time to read some proverbs and psalms to the children.
Start when they're very young. Younger than you think. Set them in your lap when they're still a toddler and read to them, letting them see the book and the words and your voice. If you think toddlers is too young an age, watch out that you don't become one of those who waits till they're sixteen.
You have to train them when they're very young, or when they're older, they won't be accustomed to it. While they're younger than you think is the right time, that is the time, they love everything you do for them and with them. If you don't start then, it just gets harder and more difficult later on.
Read to them. Pray with them. Set the example early early early in their life. If you don't bend the twig while they're young, it will be difficult later.

Fathers need to pray to God that He turn their hearts to their sons and the hearts of their sons, back to the fathers. See Malachi 4:6

A great deception in these times is that fathers are being deceived out of their role of being the father. Many are not taking their God given position as teacher of the children. Many are thinking they can wait till the children get mature to teach them. It takes training and teaching. Training is to set the example, to do the works in front of them, and with them, and helping them do it. There are many other deceptions, but for those I refer you to the Fatherhood Institute. They have provided great books on fathering.

Children used to be raised up being shown heroic men for their examples. Television has greatly entertained children with examples of foolish men, erring husbands.
Men have grown up watching these examples. Many heroes have been ridiculed and diminished. We have generations of people who have been raised up with television as their baby-sitter, who watched micky-mouse instead of playing outside.

Fathers have little example beyond scripture for a man to lead the way in teaching his children. SEE GENESIS 18:19 and Malachi 4:6!!!
Children are told to report their parents to their school principal or teacher or counselor if the child "feels" like the parent may be doing something they shouldn't. Then the teacher takes the superior role to the father, by the teacher at school telling the child to report on the father back to the teacher. So that further minimizes the authority of the father to the child.
