Russia to ban US imports of GM (Genetically Modified) maize, soya in Oct - minister
MOSCOW (AFX) - The government will ban imported genetically modified maize and soya from the US in October, at least temporarily, agriculture minister Sergei Dankvert said.
The restrictions come under a new law on GM foods, which takes effect on Oct 1 and authorizes a limited list of GM products that can be imported into Russia, Dankvert was quoted as saying by Interfax news agency.
He added however that the Russian authorities are examining "the possibility of authorizing" the US GM products.
"This is a process which will happen naturally one day," Dankvert said.
He also said that separate negotiations will be held with the United States on the importation of meat from animals fed with GM foods.
Russian health authorities have warned that the effects on humans of GM products have not been adequately studied
and that they interfere with the immune system.
Our soils have only a fraction of the mineral nutrients in them today compared to a hundred years ago.

The parent idea of a provision in our pure food laws comes from the Bible, book of Leviticus, "That which dieth of itself or is torn with beasts, ...shall not be eaten, lest it defile you."
Also in Leviticus, a warning is given against eating foods on the third day after they have been offered.
There is adulteration of food for profit and greed, and there is that which occurs without that motive.
In England, under the reign of Charles II, "...no butter with is old or corrupt, shall be mixed or packed with butter which is new and sound..."
The Britannica article on adulteration of foods goes on to state, page 188 of Vol. 1, 1953
that the adulteration of foods was increasingly towards the goal of an economic gain
, and that
..the consumer was so far removed from the ...methods of food and drug production that he was powerless to protect himself.
The contest between those chemists who worked for the food manufacturers to increase their profit,
and those chemists who worked to protect the consumers has been compared to that which exists between
the makers of armour and the makers of armour piercing projectiles. (page 189, Britannica, 1953, Vol 1)
I will show you the claims of fraud and deception made against the food industry spanning a time period of over a hundred years.
The first author I refer you to is no less than the Chief Chemist of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Dr. Harvey Washington Wiley (1844-1930).
Was he honorable? Yes. He attained to the rank of Major in the military as shown by his picture in full uniform on file in the Library of Congress, dated 1881.
Was he knowledgeable? Yes. Educated at Hanover College (Indiana), and Indiana Medical college and Harvard.
He served as state chemist of Indiana and professor of chemistry at Purdue university (1874-83).
In 1883 he became chief of the bureau of chemistry in the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
From 1899 on he was also professor of agricultural chemistry at George Washington university.
He was the chief force behind the passage of the Pure Food and Drugs Act of 1906.
The declarations below come from many different authorities, yet remain largely unknown by the public.
I have simply traced for you the thread of books over a span of a hundred years on the subject of food fraud being perpetrated on the public.

If you go to the Library of Congress web site and do a search by author on Harvey Washington Wiley,
you will see a list of over 70 books.
Dr. Wiley was a renowned chemist. He also reached the rank of Major in the military.

The date is between 1860 and 1870.
He was a man of strength and conviction, and apparently, he prospered with his income from his work, as evidenced by his
ownership of the third steam car in Washington, D.C.
He was the Chief Chemist of the United States Department of Agriculture.
He worked for pure food. He worked to establish a federal agency to control the purity of American food.
After working for years to get the national organization established, he was appointed head of that organization which later came to be called
the Food and Drug Administration. He was a man of immense energy dedicated to wholesome foods for American's to eat.
After some years heading up that organization which he had worked so long and hard to establish,
he resigned in protest of the fraud and deception being perpetrated on the American people.
I list a few of his books here, to show you an idea of what he covered in his writings;
and then go on to list a few more recent authors to show you the fraud has only continued since the turn of the century.
Consider how suppressed this information is, consider how long it has been published, and how long the problem has been growing.
A hundred years of fraud and deception for the purpose of dollar gain.
And that's in an area of life so basic, so fundamental as the food you eat!
If truth can be prevented from being given to the masses in such a basic area as the food they eat,
do you think it any harder to keep truth from them concerning other areas of life?

Organic Food
Naturally grown food today is called Organic Food in your supermarket.
There is a limited supply of such pure food. It costs nearly twice the price, but it's three times better for you, sometimes much more.
Ask your grocer to show you literature on the subject.
Poisons used to kill insects are also harmful to people. Those poisons are often left on the food.
Genetic engineering is being done on much of the food you eat.
Do you know what they're doing without telling you?
That engineering is being done for their economic benefit, not for the good of your health.
Top soil Eroded Away
The condition of our top soil has been explained to Congress more than once.
Where some places used to have two feet of top soil, they now have a few inches.
Food Nutrient Decrease
Where vegetables used to supply more vitamins and minerals, now it is typical for
the same food grown in the same place as 60 or 70 years ago, now only produces
ten percent of the same vitamins and minerals. This too has been read into the Congressional Records.
Children
Children are eating too much sugar, too much fast food, too much
super processed food. Processed food has been designed more for shelf-life
than for body-health.
Most children who are taking medication for short attention span
would be better if they had natural food without additives and without raw sugar overloading their system.
Children would also benefit greatly from more nutrient rich food.

In 1990 an employee of Sun Up Foods, an orange juice processor, told the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) that the company had set up secret rooms in its facilities to hold tanks of liquid beet sugar, a common adulterant of orange juice. According to the account of this case given in the FDA Consumer, the FDA got a search warrant for one facility but could not find the secret room. During interviews conducted in the following months, FDA investigators learned its location. They obtained a second search warrant, and this time they found the room. Stainless steel pipes hidden in the walls "were set up to look like part of the sewage system, and during a government inspection, the line carrying the sugar could be shut off and the outside pipe closed to conceal the sugar line inside." An FDA compliance officer remarked that it was the most sophisticated adulteration scheme he had ever encountered.

How can your body be any better than the food you eat?
In the 1920's the first president of the Food and Drug Administration,
Dr. Harvey Washington Wiley, wrote several books telling about
fraud and deception against the American people and against the
pure food laws.
Dr. Wiley had worked for twenty years or more to establish a branch
of the government to oversee the healthiness of our food supply.
He became disgusted with the fraud and deception that was allowed
by Congress. He expressed clearly how the giant money lobbies for food
got around the pure food laws.
Things have gotten worse since the time of Dr. Wiley.

This problem is not new, as I saw my first example of milk deceit in the late 1950's . The sample test milk with additives was brought to my high school science class for taste tests. Then in the sixties, I learned from people working with agriculture inspection labs about the hormones given to cattle that some even then said was affecting growing children.
Seeing this problem again raise it's ugly deceptive head for profit is worthy of anger at those who continually perpetrate and aid in these deceits for profit against the health of American children.

Edward Bernays (Sigmund Freud’s nephew) is still hailed as the “father of Public Relations” after his wildly successful marketing of the tobacco industry and public water fluoridation, among others. In the 2005 re-release of Propaganda, Bernays’ 1928 classic “PR bible” on shaping and manipulating public opinion, Mark Crispin Miller writes in his introduction:
“… the fact is that corporate propaganda squelches inconvenient journalistic enterprise, so that early warnings fail to resonate, and growing ills receive no mass attention.
As with the risks of smoking, so it has been, until very recently, with global warming, and so it is today with the carcinogenicity of cell phones, and the toxic side effects of fluoride, just to name a few under reported threats to public health.

It may be unfortunate, because it is not as convenient as turning on the television at night, but you simply cannot base your opinions on what is being published by these mass-media conglomerates. You have to find independent information – from people who do not have billions of dollars tied to the information being released – and I, for one, will continue digging for the truth, and bring these sources to you, through this newsletter and my website.
For example, in October, I spent two full days with Dr. George Carlo, an undisputed world expert in cell phone safety. I was so compelled with the information I heard that my next book, slated for release in 2009, will detail the reasons why I believe using cell phones is far more dangerous than smoking cigarettes ever was.
Largest Study Ever on Cell Phone Safety
Dr. Carlo was given a $28-million grant from the cell phone industry in the '90s to prove cell phones were safe. He is an MD, taught as a professor at George Washington Medical School, and has a degree in public health -- so he was up for the challenge.
However, Dr. Carlo did not come up with the results the cell phone industry would have wanted. During his research he found that they DO, in fact, cause damage. The cell phone industry offered him a position for $1 million a year to silence him, but he refused, and started a non-profit institute called The Safe Wireless Initiative to inform the world of this danger.
Folks, by the end of this year it’s expected that 4 billion cell phones will have been sold. This is a massive explosion in cell phone use, and one that is undoubtedly linked to health problems, including autism.
The information-carrying radio waves from cell phones may:
* Damage your cell membranes
* Decrease your intracellular communication by disrupting microtubular connections that allow biophotons to communicate between cells
* Increase deposits of heavy metals into your cells, which increases intracellular production of free radicals and can radically decrease cellular production of energy -- thus making you incredibly fatigued
Cell phone users are also 240 percent more prone to brain tumors, and a study back in 2004 found that your risk of acoustic neuroma (a tumor on your auditory nerve) was nearly four times greater on the side of your head where your phone was most frequently held.
What is even more concerning, though, is that there is VERY solid evidence that the number of brain tumors will increase to 500,000 per YEAR in 2010 -- and this will double to 1 million every year by 2015 if the causes are not addressed.
Folks, this is the real deal and represents an impending health care crisis.
Can Cell Phones Ever be Used Safely?
Ideally, I believe you should not use cell phones. In reality, though, I know that’s not a practical option for many of you.
If you choose to use a cell phone you should use the speakerphone function whenever possible -- and keep the phone about two feet away from any body part. Do not keep the phone on your belt or in your pocket even when you’re not using it, as the radiation WILL penetrate your body wherever the phone is attached. Instead, stow it away in a purse, backpack, or your car’s glove compartment.
For times when a speakerphone isn’t practical, you can use a NON-Blue Tooth headset, such as the Blue Tube headset. While Blue Tooth is certainly safer than no headset at all, it is still broadcasting its own information-carrying radio waves into your brain, just at a lower intensity than a cell phone. And there quite simply is no safe biological threshold for either of them.

In the course of a five-month inquiry, the AP discovered that drugs have been detected in the drinking water supplies of 24 major metropolitan areas — from Southern California to Northern New Jersey, from Detroit to Louisville, Ky.
