How can you repent if you don't know you're guilty.
There is for sure a way in which a man might generally repent of sin as a category and desire to follow God.
Then there are specifics to be considered as the layers of the onion are peeled.
God accepts our initial repentance and receives us into His kingdom.
Then He works to help us grow and learn more and more.
Exodus
This is written to help you keep your ship afloat and sailing with the wind.
Titanic sins and pin-hole sins. Both can sink your boat. Some are just more obvious than others.
You don't want to start out from shore thinking your boat is sound, only to get a hundred miles out
and discover all the while worm holes had been leaking water into your boat and you seem doomed to sink before
reaching your destination. Like the man who started to build a city, but later discovered he could not finish.
An exodus from the kingdom of darkness, and into the kingdom of HIS dear Son. (Colossians 1:13)
What will it gain you? Peace in the midst of a confused and confusing world.
Stability in the midst of a morasse of sinking sand.
Confidence in the presence of countless choices.
A sure and safe path chosen out of countless paths.
A house built of stone instead of a house of straw.
Lasting riches and true prosperity. God's kind, not the world's. Eternal riches and eternal life in the presence
of God instead of the destination of all who deny His mercy.
Jesus said to believe in Him.
His name is Jesus and I will tell you what it means. YESHUA. See Isaiah 12:2
To understand what Yeshua means read Isaiah 12:2.
Behold, God (EL)is my salvation (YESHUA); I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD (YAHH) JEHOVAH (YEHOVAH) is my strength
and my song; He also is become my salvation.
In the Hebrew, the word YESHUA is used for savior and salvation. In the Greek, the word Jesus means Savior and Salvation.
This verse sums up the message to us from the entire scripture, that God is become our Salvation.
It has three names for God. El, Yahh, Yehovah (referencing the three in heaven that are one ((1 John 5:7,8 KJV))
and then it says HE is become (notice this is a present tense, is) my SALVATION (YESHUA)
YESHUA means the total huge concept of the whole Bible story, that God our Salvation is manifest in the flesh,
and the three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, are one. Jesus is the word. See 1st John 5:7,8 in King James Version
To say the name with understanding is to say in one word, the fullness of the godhead is manifest bodily ( See Colossians 2:9) in Jesus Christ.
The entire scripture story is summarized in the Hebrew of Isaiah 12:2 and that scripture is summarize within a single word within it
when understanding comes, that word is YESHUA. It means, God is manifest in the flesh. God is our Salvation.
So when the early church was baptizing in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. (Matthew 28:19) (Acts 19:5)
When one is baptized in the name of Jesus, or in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost,
whether they realize it or not, they are being baptized in that total truth of God as their Salvation , YESHUA.
Blessed are the poor (I'm convinced this is talking about an attitude and cleanness of heart that many poor people have)
There are still poor people in the world who have not turned to thievery, stealing, bitterness, or drugs who are living
content with their lot, being kind to their friends and strangers alike. And who have no mask of deceit. Just basically honest and pure of heart.
The apostle explained it
Repent from your sins
Believe on the LORD
Be baptized
Follow Jesus (The apostles were told by Jesus to go into all the world, preach the gospel, baptize them, and make disciples)?
If they shall confess their iniquity, and the iniquity of their
fathers, with their trespass which they trespassed against me, and
that also they have walked contrary unto me;
And [that] I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought
them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised
hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their
iniquity:
Then will I remember my covenant with Jacob, and also my covenant
with Isaac, and also my covenant with Abraham will I remember; and
I will remember the land.
See Leviticus 26:40,41,42
We need to know that Jesus bore the punishment of our iniquity.
So we must also know our iniquity, our sins: we must behold, acknowledge, our sins. See 1st John 1:9
An overview of sin gives these thoughts:
Scripture has concluded all under sin. Gal 3:22 So sin is something that covers everyone born into this world through the seed of Adam.
But we receive the promise of deliverance from that sin and bondage of sin by the faith of Jesus Christ. Which means as we believe
what Jesus did for us, we receive what He did for us.
Sin is the transgression of the law. The law includes the law of love which Jesus gave.
We are called to love one another with the love wherewith God loved us.
We are called to love God with all our heart and soul and mind and strength.
We are called to love our neighbor as ourself.
And we are called to not transgress the law as set forth by Moses and the prophets.
Remember, the just shall live by faith. Those who are justified in the sight of God shall live by faith towards God.
By faith we are the righteousness of God.
Love is the fulfilling of the law Romans 13:10
He that loveth hath fulfilled the law. Romans 13:8
It is recorded in Mark 12:33 when Jesus said, "And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding,
and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love [his]
neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and
sacrifices." I give this reference for two reasons. It points to understanding what we do. It points to a contrast
between two systems as it clearly states love is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.
Now we must remember to understand the word sacrifices. It is not just sacrificing a goat. The term sacrifice comes to mean
"doing our own thing for God" instead of what He leads us to do.
John 13:34 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."
So we see the new covenant is a covenant based on divine love through faith toward God who is divine love.
This simplifies many things and frees us from ordinances and details of burnt offerings from the old covenant.
During the last many years, people have focused much on this theme of love as the fulfilling of the law.
Then they have failed to study the law. They have failed to love the law and to know it so they might know how not to sin against God.
And we have arrived at a kind of false soft wimpy love. God's love is a totally balanced love that is one with His nature as revealed
in scripture by His Spirit. A man should not just use the four letter word love as an excuse for not studying all the things of God
as a guide for what love is and what love means.
One must study to show himself (Ref 1st Timothy 2:15) approved unto God even in the understanding of love.
There is a distinction between love and lust. Most people can easily see the difference; however many confuse the words in their
understanding.
To gain the understanding we must read and read again the things of God. It all knits together more and more finely as we grow more
familiar with the word of God.

I John 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
If you don't repent, you'll keep on going down the same road.
Here are a few things for conviction of sin and a need for repentance.
Seven Deadly Sins
The Law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul
Psalms 19:8 The statutes of the LORD [are] right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD [is] pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psalms 19:7 The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple.
Psalms 19:8 The statutes of the LORD [are] right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD [is] pure, enlightening the eyes.
Psalms 19:9 The fear of the LORD [is] clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD [are] true [and] righteous altogether.
Psalms 19:10 More to be desired [are they] than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
Psalms 19:11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: [and] in keeping of them [there is] great reward.
Psalms 19:12 Who can understand [his] errors? cleanse thou me from secret [faults].
Psalms 19:13 Keep back thy servant also from presumptuous [sins]; let them not have dominion over me: then shall I be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression.
Psalms 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
If you've read this far, I know you are blessed with a heart hungry for the truth of God. The Spirit of God will lead you into all truth.
As an important thought, consider how we are warned against being slothful. It relates with being lazy or unwilling to pay the price
required to get something done.
See Judges 18:9
Pro 15:19
Pro 18:9
Pro 19:24
Pro 21:25
Pro 22:13 , 26:13 there is a lion in the streets
Pro 24:30 field of the slothful
Pro 26:14
Mat 25:26
Rom 12:11
Heb 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Common but largely unrecognized sins
Anxiety, slothfulness, deceitfulness, self-justification, disobedience, unbelief, planning on forgiveness so you can go ahead and sin more now while it feels convenient to you (presumming on God's grace and mercy, presumptuous sins
(see references Psalms 19:13 and 2nd Peter 2:10, Numbers 15:30 Deut 17:12 1st Chron 10:13)
Some major things needing repentance that few people realize include all forms for slothfulness.
Remember Esau who sold his birthright for a bowel of food one day when he didn't feel like making it himself.
We tend to think murder and fornication and stealing as things that need repentance. Those are the big glaring flashy sins
that get people's attention. But don't forget the much more common dark and hidden little sins that cause such huge problems.
The sins of covetousness, greed, laziness, idleness, self-justification, and disobedience.
Any attitude that makes one feel unwilling to "pay the price" for the pearl of great price causes problems.
Consider the category of disobedience.
God says to seek out the book of the LORD and read. Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that
need not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Any failure to obey this with joy and desire, can cause
a failure to gain faith because faith comes by hearing the word of God.
God says to be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Any failure to obey this with joy and desire can cause
a paralysis of spiritual growth.
God says to be a doer of the word, and not a hearer only.
God says to be content with daily steps, not reaching for things too high; not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought.
So number one, do the small things (despise not the day of small things) and number two, don't try to do too much.
Remember, even Joshua did not attempt to conquer all of Canaan at one time. He took it city by city. And that is how we should
grow in our own lives. Deal with one thing at a time. Let the light of your eye be single. Focus, and accomplish.
Anxiety. The word says "Be anxious for nothing,..." (Ref Philippians 4:6) So learn to count anxiety as another way of falling
short of the nature of God Almighty. Learn to trust in Him.
Psa 7:10 My defence [is] of God, which saveth the upright in heart.
Psa 11:7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth
behold the upright.
Psa 18:23 I was also upright before him, and I kept myself from mine
iniquity.
Psaa 51:12 Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me [with thy]
free spirit.
Psa 84:11 For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace
and glory: no good [thing] will he withhold from them that walk
uprightly.
Psa 119:11Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against
thee.
Psa 119:133 Order my steps in thy word: and let not any iniquity have dominion
over me.
Luke 22:40 And when he was at the place, he said unto them, Pray that ye enter
not into temptation.
John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
Acts 24:16 And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void
of offence toward God, and [toward] men.
Not guarding our tongue to keep it in agreement with God
A common failure is failure to open our mouth and confess together in agreement with God just who we are in Christ.
Do not let some thought of "Oh, that's not me, prevent you from confessing what God has made you to be.
Open your mouth and declare the new creation in Christ. Put off the old man, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind
and put on the new man created in the image of Christ Jesus. (See Colossians 3)
Revelation 21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God [is] with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, [and be] their God.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Revelation 21:5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.
Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
The titanic things easily recognized are like murdereres and whoremongers; but who can count the ways of unbelief and fear?
This was written to help you recognize (John 3:14,15) and overcome the more hidden sins, the ones harder to recognize.
After all, who can repent if they don't know they're guilty.
