George Washington: Lessons from his farewell address.
Americans have been poor students and failed to honor their founding father as they ought. God forgive our nation, and He will if it will repent. But for proud America to repent seems unlikely. And therefore the divine protection of the Almighty and Supreme Judge of the Universe as referred in the Declaration of Independence should expect to see even more removal of that divine protection. Let us count our sins and repent one by one. And do differently. See 2 Corinthinans 7:8-11 Let's see the Israelites were healed when they beheld the serpent that bit them
(See John 3:14 Numbers 21:8).
Perhaps when we as a nation sees our sins for what they are, we too may be healed. It's amazing how all know John 3:16 but fail to recognize the significance, or usually even the verse itself, just two lines ahead of it.
We have to SEE our sin, the way God sees it, else how can we repent of what we see not.
Let's see, there's child murder in the womb, forbidding of little children to come to Jesus in our schools, denial of God's word in our public places, and mockery of His name on national media, and lewd temptation of children..... and those who sit on pews on Sunday morning let it come to be. In most courts they would be considered accomplices for not resisting those things. What did we think of the Germans who watched while Jews died? What does God think? How can America think it can abide under His divine protection while flaunting such sin.

Dear Sir:
In the course of my ongoing research, I came upon your page regarding President Washington's final words to the American people. I applaud your effort with zeal.
Tomorrow marks the 209th anniversary of its issuance but, of course, as always, there won't be so much as a firecracker at the Washington Monument in our nation's capital to celebrate the greatness of our Founding Father and honor his memory in a dignified manner.
I am forwarding the below to you as I believe you will find both interesting and disturbing. I have more I would like to share with you on the subject at such time as is convenient.
I look forward to future correspondence. God SAVE America! (we're past the point of asking for simple blessing)
Sincerely,
WP

Dear Mr. Broyles and staff:
As State Coordinator for Virginia History Day, the below are self-explanatory and should be of great interest to you.
I must say that, as wonderful and informative as the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation website is, I must express my surprise and disappointment at not having found the below-referenced on the GW page
http://www.history.org/Almanack/people/washhdr.cfm
Nor did my online search using the same keywords listed below yield ANY result but, as has clearly been found, CWF is not the only org that has fallen short in the recognition of the most important message that GW ever conveyed to the People of the United States both in his day and for posterity.
I look forward to hearing from you at your convenience.
Sincerely,
WP

"Washington is the mightiest name of earth¾ long since mightiest in the cause of civil liberty; still mightiest in moral reformation. On that name, an eulogy is expected. It cannot be. To add brightness to the sun, or glory to the name of Washington, is alike impossible. Let none attempt it. In solemn awe pronounce the name, and in its naked deathless splendor, leave it shining on."

Dear Sir/Madam:
On September 17, 2002 President Bush said;
"Our Founders believed the study of history and citizenship should be at the core of every American's education..."
and that "We will discuss new policies to improve the teaching of history and civics in elementary and secondary schools, and in our colleges and universities.
We will hear from educators and scholars about ways to better monitor students' understanding of American history and civics, and how to make more of our great national treasures, how to make them more accessible and more relevant to the lives of our students."

came up with only a 79% "hit" being the highest and NONE of which provided access nor reference to what is, without question, the single most important document that ever came from the hand of the single most important figure in the history of our republic.
I am just an ordinary American with an extraordinary reverence for our Founding Father.
Therefore, I do not expect my words will inspire anyone in the White House.
However, these words from other noteworthy individuals are certainly worth considering:
"The lessons contained in this invaluable legacy of Washington to his countrymen should be cherished in the heart of every citizen to the latest generation; and perhaps at no period of time could they be more usefully remembered than at the present moment."
President Jackson in his own Farewell Address
http://xroads.virginia.edu/~CAP/jackson/jack~1.htm
In 1956, Minnesota Senator Hubert Humphrey wrote that every American should study this memorable message. “It gives one a renewed sense of pride in our republic. It arouses the wholesome and creative emotions of patriotism and love of country.”

“Prepared with the assistance of Alexander Hamilton and James Madison, the document was intended as the first president's political testament to the nation…written ostensibly to inspire and guide future generations…”
Senator Robert C. Byrd, “History of the United States Senate” pg. 149
http://home.att.net/~first.president.us/docs/byrd01.html
"Dr. Thompson, in pleading for the teaching of civics in our schools, said that ethical studies had suffered in giving natural science the place of primary importance.
A fundamental aim in teaching should be to make good citizens. (he) said that the Farewell Address had the moral force of an amendment to the Constitution, and that it should be constantly read in our public schools."
New York Times- 20 September 1896
http://home.att.net/~first.president.us/docs/nytimes2.html
Richard Norton Smith, in his book "Patriarch: George Washington and the New American Nation", stated that;
(President Washington) "dissented, arguing that the Farewell Address was intended to be read in distant times" pg. 277
and that;
"No paper that ever came from his hand so thoroughly reflected Washington’s personal qualities of balance, restraint, and justice, nor his insights into the folly of emotionalism as a determinant of policy. Today, the Farewell Address is justly famed, not merely as the capstone of Washington’s political philosophy, but as a brilliantly drawn road map to national survival and a fully realized independence." pg. 283
Who is Richard Norton Smith?

And then, of course, in the words of President Washington himself;
“In offering to you, my Countrymen, these counsels of an old and affectionate friend, I dare not hope they will make the strong and lasting impression, I could wish--that they will controul the usual current of the passions, or prevent our Nation from running the course which has hitherto marked the Destiny of Nations: But if I may even flatter myself, that they may be productive of some partial benefit, some occasional good; that they may now & then recur to moderate the fury of party spirit, to warn against the mischiefs of foreign Intriegue, to guard against the Impostures of pretended patriotism--this hope will be a full recompence for the solicitude for your welfare, by which they have been dictated.”

Young men seeking truth, look no further than God. He is with you now. He is guiding you to His word.
His Spirit is drawing on your heart and mind, working in you to know and do according to His Truth.
His word is Truth. Trust Him to have preserved His truth for all generations to know and believe.
It is one thing to know what someone says. Quite another to believe it.
You want to know the truth of history. What to believe about who did what and why?
Seen several different and opposing views on many different subjects?
There is a truth to each matter. And you can know that truth.
The truth about the foundations of life, and the truth about details of life are available to you
as you follow the path to know Christ Jesus and Him crucified. For God reconciled all things
to Himself and to His Eternal Loving Plan through Jesus and His shed blood at that cross two-thousand years ago.
Did American factories sell airplane engines to European nations which then sold them to Germany prior to our entrance into World War II? Yes. Did they do it to make a dollar? Yes. Did God deal with this issue at the cross? Yes.
Did the American government deal falsely with the Indians? Yes. That too was taken to the cross by Jesus.
Did slavery happen? Yes. And the death camps of Germany happened. And slavery still goes on as it has from long long ago.
It is the nature of man to seek his own gain even at the expense of another. All these things were also nailed to the cross of Jesus in His flesh. He bore all things of the world's sin and curse at that cross. See Colossians 1:20 and Isaiah 53
What nation of people has not subjected another people to its force for the sake of making a financial gain? Only the small and weak who could not,... only they have not. This shows the natural nature of man. See also Romans 1 and 2 on the condition of man.
It comes from the curse. This is told in Genesis.
The depravity of man is something you must see if you want to understand the history of man.
The cross of Jesus is what you must know if you want to understand the Salvation of man.
Will a giant world-wide food company lie to you for the sake of their profit?
Did the cigarette companies deceive your parents about the effects of nicotine and its addiction and poison?
Did they do it for the sake of a dollar? At the expense of other people's health? Yes.
Are things different today? In form yes, but not in substance.
Given the power to subjugate, what government would not subjugate a people? Our Founding Fathers wanted this warning passed
on to posterity, but the message of the Declaration of Independence has been omitted from our school books.
Will any given system of power and authority put people under its yoke so that system can expand? Based upon the depravity of man, the answer is yes. Given enough power, and enough time to slide down the slope of depravity, a system of power will tend to
put weaker systems under its power.
Can you trust the schools to be telling you the truth and telling you what you need for living as the head and not the tail?
Is the school system paid by you? Are you their master? Are does the government pay the schools? Is the government their master?
Then the school will serve its master more than you.
That is why when you take biology, they teach you detailed chemical equations without explaining the guiding principles of the basic health of your body and the food you eat. The rich world food companies have kept those truths out of the text books.
Can't have a population rebelling against chemically preserved food. You learned details of the Kreb's Cycle in 8th grade biology,
but were not told how deficient the American diet is in things that make the Kreb's Cycle work.
There are reasons why you were not told. Those reasons are dollars and politics.
Don't you think a good parent would want his child to know about the things around him in daily life that can help or harm?
To make it clear, remember a simpler time, before the days of virtual reality. The days when people lived on a farm, or even the days when America was being settled during the first hundred years. Parents knew they had to prepare their child with the knowledge for staying alive. How to avoid quicksand, which snakes were poisonous, which berries were OK to eat or not, and how to prepare food. Things that affected their daily lives had to be recognized and understood. Else people died.
It's the same today, only the effect of dying doesn't happen so fast and is not so easy to see.
If a person can't read, they're easier to mis-lead.
If a person can't see what's wrong with the food they eat, they're more likely to continue buying it, even though it's slowly hurting their health.
The food companies want seedless plants so farmers won't be able to grow their own seed, but instead have to each year buy new seed from the food companies.
The new water companies want to control the water sources so they can sell water for more profit. It is a life or death product.
Scripture says a loaf of bread will be sold for a very high price. This will come to pass.
