What advantage then has the Jew?
Romans 3:1
Much every way: chiefly that to them were committed the oracles of God.
Romans 3:2
Let's consider a big picture of history.
If we believe in God, then perhaps it's not too hard to believe what He allows to be continually existent in His name.
ie the Holy Scripture.
According to scripture, it is written how in the beginning, God created man.
He created man in His own image, in the image of God created He him; male and female created He them.
Genesis 1:27
Then God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life (spirit of God),
and man became a living soul.
Man had a body formed of the dust of the ground. God gave the spirit (breath) of God to man so there would be life in his body.
As we know, the body without the spirit is dead. (James 2:26)
Adam, having a spirit directly from God and of God was enabled to communicate with God.
Pretty quick, the very first man choose a path which was to set us all on a path through being his descendants.
When Adam chose to go contrary to the will of God, that spirit which was animating the body, that spirit changed.
God did not change, but the spirit that was animating the body of Adam did change. Adam no longer had communion with
the invisible God. He could neither hear nor see God unless God made special means to reveal Himself to Adam.
We were in Him at the time he chose to go contrary to that which God had told him.
We all inherited that nature, that Adamic spirit, which is contrary to God through the fact of being descendants of that first man.
The earth became cursed as a consequence of the choice made by Adam. (Genesis 3:17 Romans 8:22)
As time went on, more and more actions contrary to the nature of God went on in the earth. (Romans 1:21)
Finally we see back in history where groups of people called nations each had their own idol.
Nearly everyone everywhere was ascribing power to some kind of false god or many false gods or denying there is a God.
Looking back into recent history we see the Greeks and Romans with their gods and goddesses.
We see the ancient Egyptians worshipping the gods of the Nile.
The Babylonians were worshipping their gods.
We see the Asians ascribing power to all kinds of different gods, and also the Africans had their many gods. Aztecs too.
God redeemed Abraham from all the clamor of false god deception, and from Abraham grew a nation of people who would know
the truth of God. "Hear, O Israel, the LORD thy God is one. And thou shalt worship Him with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
and with all thy strenth, and with all thy mind. And thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.
God revealed Himself and His law to Moses. And the recording of holy scripture continued through this people the Jews.
And through them, God sent His only begotten Son, Emmanuel (meaning God with us), also called Jesus, a variant of YESHUA, meaning
God is manifest in the flesh as our Salvation (Isaiah 12:2 Isaiah 9:6 1st Timothy 3:16 )
Through this man, Jesus, born of a virgin by the Spirit of God, the gospel of Salvation sprang forth to all who would hear.
First the Jews, next the Gentiles among them and near their borders, then by foot to neighboring countries.
At that time, about 2000 years ago, the gospel was carried on foot to the edges of the Asian countries, to the northern parts
of Africa and India, to the center of Europe and Ireland. The depths of India, Asia, and Africa were pretty much unreached until very lately.
Some Africans were brought to Europe and America leaving behind certain kinds of other gods and forms of religion.
Missionaries worked their way deeper into the depths of Africa. Missionaries also had a difficult time penetrating the Asian cultures
, Islamic countries, and the Indian continent.
All of this spread of the gospel originated with the Jews, the people chosen of God to be entrusted with the word of God, and they did
faithfully preserve the scripture from the writings of Genesis up to the time of the birth of the Lamb of God, the sacrifice for all the world's sins
, Jesus the Christ.
When a man believes on Jesus scripture says he is born again. That means, he receives a new spirit from God.
God takes away the old Adamic inherited spirit and gives in its place a new Spirit directly from God.
Matthew 3:9 and Luke 3:8 John 8:39,40 Acts 13:26
Romans 4:11 Abraham is the father of all those who believe in God.
The promise given to Abraham was not received through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. Romans 4:13
Romans 9:7 and Genesis 21:12 show us how God declared Abraham's seed would be identified through Isaac, the child of faith, and the result
of Abraham's believing God.
Hebrews 11:18 and Genesis 17:19 Genesis 21:12
GALATIANS 3:16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He sayeth not."And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, "And to thy seed..."
which is Christ.
Christ is the one who gives us faith towards God. All who receive the faith He gives, are born of God.
So, in summary, I'd like you to see the tiny nation of Israel and their keeping of the word of God, and the birth of Jesus, from
the lineage of David according to the flesh, (Mary is recorded as a direct descendant of David); and the gospel spreading out like
a vine encompassing the earth, not all at once, but growing, until it is preached in every nation.
And for their adherence to the word of God, even as best they could understand, people despised the Jews,
just as also they have despised, ignored, and denied Almighty God. But God honors the Jews. And I likewise. Let me and my house
be in agreement with God. Blessed are the Jews. He will redeem His people. His chosen.
People who believe in Jesus, let us not forget from whence we received the gospel. For at one time, had not the believing Jews
allowed God to work through them to bring the gospel to the gentiles (much to their suprise!, but they obeyed), we would not have the gospel.
Go find a Jew and bless him, or her. And God will make His face to smile upon you for such a deed.
Anyone who could provide art for graphic representation of the spread of the gospel, it would be appreciated. Thank you.
I would incorporate suitable graphics for time and geography into this page.
