Desire the pure milk of the word

Luke 12:42

And the Lord said

Who then is that faithful and wise steward

(whom) his lord shall make ruler over his household

to give (them their) portion of meat

in due season?

Scriptures giving more weight to the idea of "...meat in due season..."

1st Corinthians 3:2 Paul fed them with milk and not meat

Why?

Because of Hebrews 5:12 strong meat should be reserved

two more witnesses
Psalm 104:27 feed them meat in due season
Psalm 145:15 feed them meat in due season

This is clearly something the Holy Spirit recorded twice that Jesus spoke of meat in the context of due season. See Matthew 24:45 and Luke 12:42

Therefore, if we are to be faithful and wise stewards of the word of God being served to the body of Christ, we will be led of God to seek and understand what this means.

Since meat should be served in due season, as Jesus clearly stated. And since strong meat should be served, not to babes, but those who have by reason of use exercised their senses (spiritual perception ) to discern good and evil, we need to know what it is. What is meat?

Meat is not milk.

What is the milk that Paul fed the Corinthians?

Peter gives us a reason for feeding milk in 1st Peter 2:2 Milk is so believers can grow thereby. There is no age limit. At all ages we grow by the pure milk of God. At all ages we need milk so we can grow. We even grow in our perception of the milk. We grow in our later years in understanding more completely what we learned in our earlier years. Things become richer in meaning to us as our perception increases, as we grow in knowing what the words mean. We grow in knowing what they mean as we have more experience and more knowledge of other scripture connected with those words.

The more we can see a particular verse by the light of all the other scriptures, the more meaning that verse has for our soul.

So those of any age we can say, as Peter did , "As newborn babes desire ye the pure milk of the word that ye may grow thereby."

And what is this milk? What is it that gives us growth?
God gives the increase. It is God who makes the lily of the field to grow. It is God who makes us to grow.
The milk of the word is the word that tells us what God has done for us in Christ.

A baby receives nourishment from mother's breast. The father went out and got the food that fed the mother. Much work was done in getting the food and preparing it. The mother holds the baby up to her breast and the baby just receives it. It's there. It's there whether the baby receives it or not. It's there for the baby, for the one who needs to grow.

The babe did no work. He just let the milk drain into his mouth and swallowed, or if he was very hungry he sucked. But he did none of the work that went into putting all the life into the food. He didn't hunt. He didn't plow, or plant, or harvest the food eaten by the mother. It was all done for him

God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. Indeed, He reconciled all things at that cross. Colossians 1:20
