tv
how fast the culture changed
don't assume your child is in a similar environment to what you had...
Bible connected verses to some of these ideas
Rome had its gladiators, and we have even more...
Then and now , what children experience.... get the big picture
Your child's environment. Don't take it for granted.
Neither his mind, nor his heart, nor his physical environment.
ie his thoughts, understandings, and emotions and also his physical environment...
Remember how you grew up, how things have changed.
Listen to the stories of the baby-boomers of World-War-Two parents who had grandparents telling them
how the world had changed during their life-time.
Josh McDowell tells us that what used to take a hundred years to change in culture now changes in
less than a quarter century.
So the experiences you faced are not the same as those of your children. By far.
Mass media is the biggest reaching tool in the world.
It affects wars, money, elections, dictators, gov. and people of all kinds, ...and finally it affects
schools, and your child.
Do not be ignorant of the power of TV to engineer the way people think and do.
TV satellite bounces around the world with information, whether true or false who can tell? Just like Mrs. Sorenson predicted,
tv has been the biggest instrument of change in America.
Today we have news about families cloning their dead child.
Just a few years ago we had Dolly the sheep cloned.
Brave New World talked about it 50 years ago.
Satellites cramming the space above earth till they're so thick it takes special maps to track them.
These seem common-place to children nowdays, but remember the very first one went up in 1958.
And it was a Russian satellite called Sputnik. Most highschool boys were immediately encouraged to go
out and buy sliderules so we could close the engineering gap with Russia and win the space war.
Today's kids have computers that routinely track satellites, and it all seems so routine.
But so does the appearance of gay movies and sitcoms seem routine now and commonplace, totally acceptable
by society who has learned to laugh with their jokes. What you allow to amuse and entertain, you accept.
On the background of all this remember that just 50 years before that first Sputnik, people were
riding around in horse drawn carriages.
In those days, most any kid could see the stars at night without smog haze or city lights.
In those days, more kids got to catch a tadpole and seine for minnows. They saw trees grow in their
back yard, and flowers that their mother planted. Many helped with a family garden. Yes, even up through the days
of WWII.
There is much importance missed in the statement from scripture, "The things of God which can be known
are clearly seen by what He has created." We do err to ignore or minimize such truth, such guidance.
Removing children from nature, almost completely, and raising them on concrete playgrounds, with virtual entertainment
filled with examples of gore and death,... what is happening? What is different for a child raised
in the country without VIRTUAL ENTERTAINMENT and a child who only knows VIRTUAL REALITY?
I have much to say on that subject but will leave it for you to consider. Another time maybe can write on that theme.
Here's a hint, one of many possible. In the last days, people will be without natural affection...Romans 1:31
and Second Timothy 3:3
Noah Webster produced his famous Dictionary of the American Language so people could know the words
of scripture and the words of America. He knew the significance of a verse telling us to "...hold fast
the form of sound words..." 2Timothy 1:13 He also knew how terrible things would be when people called evil good and good evil
as is the case now.
It seems fewer and fewer people are learning the root meanings and origin of words.
Today it seems so easy for people to overlap and mis-use words.
This phenomena is connected to the teaching concept introduced by Progressive Theories of Learning
and in particular to the WHOLE LANGUAGE approach to reading. What it does is lead the child to
put his own meanings to the word forms he sees on the page. California State School Board authorities
came to Texas and warned, admonished us not to allow the WHOLE LANGUAGE READING THEORY to be used in
our schools. California said it ruined their students' reading ability. But due to Federal Funding
pressures, we ignored the warm-hearted warnings of our friends. And instead we went with the flow of
money from the government. The love of money is the root of many such evils in our land today.
Be not deceived. Evil communications corrupt good ways. 1Cor 15:33
AMOS 5:15 Hate the evil and love the good: establish wisdom at the gate. It may be that the LORD GOD of Hosts
will be gracious unto the remnant...
Isaiah 5:20 Woe be unto them that call evil good and good evil. That put darkness for light,
and light for darkness. That put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter.
See Malachi 4:6 let the father's heart return to the child and the child's to the father...and pray
that the curse not come in your life time, or that it at least be stalled so long as possible....
but with Israel returned to their land after 2000 years, I think the clock tick nears twelve...
or to put it more scripturally in tune, nears the six thousand years of fulfillment.
TV is used for baby sitter and relaxation. Children are willing to laugh along with the
canned laughter in the many foolish and rebellious tv shows.
That which they laugh at and accept in good humor, they tend to come to accept in general.
This includes the many transvestites portrayed in so called humor.
It includes the bold portrayal of homosexuals as acceptable behavior.
And much more.
Rome had its amphitheater of gladiators. We have pro-football, wrestling tv style, and detailed gory
war shows in hyper full details of gore and blood, murder, killing and death.
But we've gone far beyond mere physical execution.
Far higher ratings and faster publicity to those programs promoting pain and violence where
the victim doesn't die, but just keeps on enduring. With gladiators there is a moment of pain and
then death. But tv has progressed to the exquisite sweet pain release of emotional vampires, feeding
on the heart suffering and pain, the bleeding souls of sick and maligned souls.
The emotional soap operas have replaced the simple ones of the forties and fifties and sixties.
Now teenagers can sit and watch bisexuals fight on tv over their territories.
And much more.
Physical death in Roman gladiator fights was simple, direct, and then over.
Only America, with its mass merchandising advertising budgets could pull off such a stunt as you
see on the morning, afternoon, evening and night EMOTIONAL INTERVIEWS and EXPOSES.
Oh, America has progressed to surpass the height of drug induced ecstasy, and done it with the pure
adrenaline of emotionally battered souls,... sending the by-products out over the mass media for our children
and families.
On the subject of books, reading material, and planting thoughts in young minds:
Too many school teachers and parents and important people have said to me words like this:
"What does it matter what the children read, so long as they are reading? We are glad just to get
them reading."
This was said in response to my questions on books like Harry Potter, and a popular theme of
a major school library supplier, Scholastic Books, which typically is something like a little girl
metamorphosing from a snake or back into a snake, or teen-age blues, suicide, sick, stuff.
When the leaders and parents won't stand up for Godly values, the children know by example the written
stuff doesn't count for much. And so the next generation lets even more slack into the system.
And this process has been going on now for over 40 years. That's how we got where we are.
Too many people are too so called polite, and too so called wise to stand up for Jesus.
But that's OK in God's plan, HE knew all things from the beginning. He knew many rewards which
could have been had, will fail to be gained. Read again a few more verses from the book of Revelation.
Read again about being quiet when violence is exercised against children.
Physical violence is not all He means.
"Whosoever offends one of these little ones, it would be better that a mill-stone be hung around his
neck and he be cast into the sea..." Those offences include false teaching, omissions, and many other
failure to provide a godly place for children's minds to grow and be shaped.
Those who permit such things are partakers thereof. That's the way it is.
You won't be able to say to God, not and get away with it, But I didn't do it, I just sat and watched it happen."
Churches and parents are content that their children pack a Bible in their suitcase when they leave home.
Very little scripture is truly learned by most when they pick up and go away to college or work or marriage.
Who anymore requires a student to know the Bible?
Most are amazed that I say it is important to be familiar with all the scripture, cover to cover.
Seems hard to live by faith in every word that proceeds from God if one doesn't know the scriptures.
The time is coming when many will be deceived by the new technology mark of the beast and scripture
explains they will be deceived because they received not a love of the truth.
TECHNOLOGY
Technology is neither good nor evil, any more than is a sword. God uses a sword, and evil uses a sword.
But now, after a hundred years of growth in technology, it has grown faster than our ability to control it.
It has changed faster than we have kept up with its ways and potentials.
It has out paced the understanding of most of us when it comes to understanding its potential in all its aspects.
It's like back in 1910 when we only had telephones and electricty and lights and simple cars and some pretty fancy
printing presses and telegraph, life was much simpler. People still couldn't attack around the world in minutes.
Technology was like a small bunny in your arms. It was nice and pleasant, and there was plenty of nature to go around.
Kids still caught tadpoles, and families still went to church picniks.
Now, technology has grown to a rampaging beast, dragging us along by the chain we have on us tied to its neck.
It is growing faster than we can adjust to its potentials. That is how America was caught off guard, by one man
applying technology in a way that had not been considered to defend against. Existing technology was used by our enemy
in a way we did not think necessary to guard against. He out manuvered us on the chess board using our own pieces.
A hundred years has changed the face of the world, the time to traverse the world, and the things that can be done.

Students of every subject should first study the history of that subject. If for nothing else than to put it into perspective.
They should also study the science and culture change connected with the MAJOR inventions.
But how sadly our schools fail in this also. (Just had to get that in.)

- 1990 - 50,000 people work in two high-rise buildings in NYC. Think about it.
There was an old science fiction short story someone wrote to explore the effects of many people living
in tall buildings. Worthy of looking it up and reading it again. It covered many of the symptoms of our culture.
We have paid a high price for technology. Who knows how much.
How fast have we changed.
In 1900 we had one thing. And now we have so different a country. Technology has made it possible,
but technology is not the cause. Beware how you use technology. It is a multiplier of power, even
the power to change. And yet the Gov allows the changing of our food, genetically engineered food
is everywhere, even in baby food. Did they bother to ask your opinion? I don't think so.
They are filled with their power, and they feel free to use it for profits disguised as being for your
benefit. With all the genetic engineering by ignorant men with the complex things of God's animal and plant
kingdom, do you think it so unreasonable the scriptures predict weird plagues and weird beasts, maybe insect mutants
and the like to be a plague on mankind?
We ourselves will be partakers of that genetically altered food
which no man can say what the effect will be. Our children being second generation partakers of altered
corn and beans, of beef fed with female hormones, and of chickens nourished through tubes to grow,...
how will they think it is strange, since it will have been the world to which they were accustomed.
Children are molded by influences allowed to reach them.
The television is reaching them and changing them.
The change is faster than people know.
What your child accepts as humor today may be a lifestyle tomorrow.
What your child accepts as humor, ... is acceptable.
If he or she has not already learned to reject it as abominable and he or she
instead laughs at abominable behavior, and I'm referring to homo-sexual and transvestite trash
on tv, then later on, most of those children will also defend such things.
The principle is: That which is acceptable as humor today, is acceptable period tomorrow.
Look around. See the children who have grown to defend homosexuality as acceptable.
Look at the things introduced as humor which are now mainstream.
THEN and NOW, What Children Experience
