Why was Japan in China during the 1930's? Oil , land, space. Self-protection. National growth .
Why did Japan attack America? Self-preservation. Amazing isn't it.
Why did Germany attack? To preserve and enhance their vision of themselves and their way of life, for themselves.
Same reasons the Roman Empire had to keep on expanding to protect it's borders and it's style of living.
What does Scripture say on this subject?
What should our view of man be? How about a historical view. A simple recognition of what has been.
1. Picture Japanese warriors slicing off heads of men and women prisoners.
2. Picture Germans incenerating people who weren't blue eyed blond haired.
3. Picture Russians killing millions who weren't "supporting the new system".
4. Picture the civil war in America .
5. Picture WWI over division of title to lands in Europe.
6. Picture WWII as a simple continuation of the First Great War, and for the same reasons.
7. Understand the technology that made those great wars possible, was the reason the wars were pre-emptively engaged.
8. Picture American's killing Americans, the union wars of the north; the racial wars of the south.
You ask, Wars? Well, union members with baseball bats and guns beating non-members to death. Hangings, shootings, and beatings
for various reasons at various times in America. Even federal forces shooting into a crowd of college students.
Buildings blowing up. Alcohol, Tobacco, and Fire Arms (ATF) forces, Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), Swat Police, drug-laws
that threaten Constitutional rights for individuals in their homes. Child Protective Services (CPS), IRS and their armed forces which can take over an honest man's office and home and business.
When an entity has the power, sooner or later they will use it to their own vision of their advantage against those who
do not have the power, and they will use it for their own gain or increase according to their own vision; and they will use it
self-justified, and mercilessly.
That is the historical evidence and interpretation for what men will do.
You say, but what about the goodness in men? Have you ever seen an outpouring of goodness from any nation on a scale to match
the outpouring of war? Man is good , sometimes, to his own family and those of value to him. Man, given the opportunity
is evil to everyone from whom he can extract a gold tooth by taking his head or binding his body.
Slavery exists everywhere. It is just more open some places than others.
Deception exists rampantly. It is just more covered up and unrecognized many places than others.
Read the book of Romans for a picture of the total depravity of man. If you disagree with that, argue with God, for He caused it to be written.
Man will lie, cheat, and steal to get what he wants.
It is best appreciated when your own village has been attacked, overcome, plundered, raped, and enslaved or killed.
Only the fear of God will keep the man with power in his place, and only when that fear of eternal judgment is born in his own heart.
It cannot come from another. Man will only do right when he is more afraid of God's judgment than anything else.
The Founding Fathers of America knew this truth. They knew America couldn't last without the divine providence of the Almighty God,
the Creator, to protect and preserve this nation. Read Original Intent by David Barton for insight into this theme.
And The Re-Writing of America's History by Catherine Millard.
The Wars of various sizes and in various places we see today are not for the reasons publicly given.
They are for "self-gain-preservation-expansion" and the other man's expense.
This is true in America, Bosnia, Middle East, or any where you want to name.
The total depravity of man is very important. What you believe concerning this defines much of your logic.
Let's look at a few verses speaking about the depravity of man.
"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable;
there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Their throat is an open sepulcher; with their tongues they have used deceit;
the poison of asps is under their lips: Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
Their feet are swift to shed blood:
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
And the way of peace have they not known:
There is no fear of God before their eyes."
Romans 3:10-18
At the very least, wars rob children and wives of their fathers and husbands, and that empoverishes those remaining.
Most men who have experienced war do not desire it for their children.
There is only one answer. Jesus Christ is that answer.
He is the answer to avoid war. Or if you get invaded or attacked, He is the Captain by which to fight.
He is the reason for America's early success.
He has shown a little of the removal of such divine providence of protection during the last most recent years.
See our Declaration of Independence for reference to such protection and our need for such protection to exist
as a nation.
If there is some significant reason we should understand as to why America is not directly named in scripture;
then I expect it to be that we were given a land of Canaan, and converted it to Babylon.
The twin towers were the merchant trade center of the world, and they were destroyed. Search scripture on this or even see my notes
on God Bless America and God Help America in the Bible study section of this site.
